Floral Friday: A Simple Bit of Beauty.

TGIF, gardening friends! Whew, it's been a crazy week, but we've made it--it's Floral Friday, so let the celebration begin!

After last week's controversy surrounding cherry blossoms, I decided to base my Floral Friday creation on...(drumroll, please):

Cherry blossoms!

Now, before you call the police, thinking that I pilfered cherry branches from the strip mall parking lot, I promise you that I procured these blooms legally:

Autumn Flowering Higan (Prunus subhirtella 'Autumnalis') is our daughter's birthday tree.

While not as lush and heady as the coveted Yoshino cherries, the darling blush blooms of 'Autumnalis' provide a quintessential spring flavor.

The hot pink buds open to a soft, creamy, perfect blossom.

Delicate stems arch and bend, adding a graceful, playful element in an arrangement.

I, however, decided to keep it simple this week:

Just a few sprigs of cherry blossoms in honor of Kristen's upcoming thirteenth birthday.

How is that possible? 13. Yikes. More on that and Kristen's birthday tree next week.

What will you create for Floral Friday? Are you northern friends thawing yet? (I hope so!) Remember to share your beautiful bouquets and garden creations on the Garden Delights Facebook page. You can also share on Instagram and Twitter--use #FloralFriday so we can find you!

Happy weekend, friends!

XOXO ~

Julie
